Attention JSHS Parents and Athletes: There will be an ALL Sports informational meeting Thursday night, 8/3. This meeting will be held in the JSHS Cafeteria from 5-6 and is for any student interested in playing any sport this school year 2023-24, Middle or High. We will introduce coaches, watch short-mandatory videos, and fill out any paperwork necessary for your child to be eligible to play this school year. If you or your child has already done and met these requirements then there is no need to attend.

Reminder to all interested in playing High School Football this season mandatory practices begin Monday July 31st at 5:30-8pm. Please arrive between 5-5:15 pm at the weight-room with an updated sports physical if you have not already turned one in to Coach Sellers. Please email Coach Sellers with any questions before Monday. Volunteer Organization Night

Adult volunteer interest meeting on Monday, July 31st at 6:00pm at the school for the Boy Scouts of America, Young Marines, Law Enforcement Explorers, and Fire and EMS Explorers. Experience is preferred, but not required. These programs will be open to male and female students in grades 6th - 12th. We will begin optional summer workouts this week July 25th, 26, & 27. 5:30-7:00pm Practice schedule is as follows: Practice time is 5:30pm-7:00pm. Optional practice dates 7/25, 7/26, 7/27, 8/1, 8/2, 8/3, 8/8, 8/9, 8/10, 8/15, 8/16, 8/17. Mandatory practice dates 8/21, 8/22, 8/23, 8/24 High School Volleyball tryouts will be held on Monday, July 31 and Tuesday, August 1 from 5:30-7:30pm. You must have a current sports physical and a completed concussion form filled out prior to tryouts. We created this event to provide school supplies for Jones County Students! We have invited and encouraged area businesses, churches, non-profits, and partner organizations to come participate and promote their services as well. We are requiring all participating groups to provide at least $25 worth of School Supplies. Vendors should be able to distribute the school supplies to the kids at the event. Thanks to partners like You we were able to serve 205 area students last year. We timed this event to come before the school year starts to ease the financial burden Students and Parents might undergo to pick up school supplies. Last year, The Filling Station purchased 205 backpacks, this year they plan to provide 250 backpacks. And with the help of Maysville Rotary, the Pollocksville Rotary, JC Senior Services, JC Health Department and the Salvation Army of Jacksonville, we had enough snacks to pack all of the backpacks. And like last year Maysville Rotary plans to provide Hot Dog Lunches for both parents and students are welcome. Employment Opportunities for 2023-2024 School Year

We will begin optional summer workouts on July 25th. You will need to have a valid physical to participate. If you get a physical during the summer you can drop it off at the JSHS office and it will get to me or you can bring it the first day of workouts. Mandatory workouts will begin August 21st. Jones County Recreation needs parents input on a future Recreation & Wellness Center. Wed, June 7th 6pm-8pm at the JC Civic Center. Light Refreshments will be provided. All community input is welcome.

The ceremony will occur in the high school gym beginning at 9 a.m. All guests must sign in at the high school gym before being permitted entrance. The following message contains important information from Jones Senior High School. Tomorrow morning, 6th-8th grades Math EOGs and Math 1 & Math 3 EOCs will be administered. In the afternoon, 3rd period high school exams will be given. On Tuesday, EOG and EOC makeups and 4th period exams will be administered. Athletic physicals for 6th through 11th grade students wanting to participate in athletics during the 2023-2024 school year will be held from 12:00 until 5:30 pm in the high school gym. Also on June 6th at 6:00, High School athletics' awards ceremony will be held in the Harry Brown Gymnatorium. Awards Ceremony for grades sixth through eleventh is June 7th at 9:00am. This is also an early release day and the last day of school for this year. The Class of 2023 graduation is June 10th. Message for Seniors: We are so sorry but the Senior Trip for tomorrow has been cancelled. There was an error in scheduling and we are unable to make the trip. Refunds will be distributed to students at the last Graduation practice. Again, we apologize for this and look forward to celebrating you this Friday at the Senior cookout and again on Saturday at the Graduation.

Tuesday May 30th, there is a CCP meeting for LCC students that are taking courses in the summer and haven't attended a meeting yet or for Fall students in the cafeteria at 6:00pm. Also, tomorrow there is a Varsity Football parent meeting at 6:30 in the high school gym. 6th grade EOGs will start May 31st. All other EOGs/EOCs and final exams will begin June 1st.
